8 July 2022: European Health Data Space

Description

The European Commission released its first proposal for a Regulation for the European Health Data Space (“EHDS”) in May 2022. The objective is to have it adopted by 2024 and in force by 2025. This will be a challenge given the requirements of other frameworks such as the GDPR and the current diversity in legal and ethical requirements amongst Member states. As a result it will necessary to have an intense level of dialog with numerous stakeholders across Europe in the coming years. This session aims to outline the key elements of the European Data space and discuss their challenges in terms of agreement and implementation. In addition the panelists will identify some of the major potential impacts the proposed framework on both healthcare and research.
