Born in Brussels: The development and implementation of a shared digital support system detecting antenatal psychosocial vulnerability and offering personalised care paths

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a conference

Description

The pregnant population of Brussels faces an often tacit psychosocial vulnerability. Due to late detection and / or care, vulnerable pregnant women may be prone to health consequences such as depression, preterm delivery, maternal mortality and others. Following this problematic, the Belgium National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (NIHDI) have set a goal to improve accessibility to the healthcare system for pregnant women who are psychosocial vulnerable in Brussels. For this, better detection and a minimal care offer are necessary.
The primary objective being therefore to support the caregivers and their existing offers by improved communication resources, reinforcing herewith the bilingual Brussels (perinatal) network on different care levels (0,5-2ND line). Moreover, the prenatal psychosocial detection, the corresponding psychosocial care as well as its follow-up are herewith also supported. In order to attain this objective, the Born in Brussels Professional project aims to implement a digital decision support system for caregivers that consists of a psychosocial detection tool to which adapted care paths and the Brussels care network are associated.
The implementation and an implementation study takes place in Brussels in order to best implement this new practice within the different organizations and level of care in Brussels.
