Composite Monolith Adsorbents for Electrified Desorption

Structured adsorbents such as monoliths have clear advantages in high flow adsorptive separations. When they are used for the removal of strongly adsorbing species, a combined thermal vacuum swing process might enhance the productivity. Direct electrified heating allows for very fast and localized heating, but requires materials that are susceptible for heating methods such as Joule, microwave or inductive heating. In this paper, we will present novel composite structured honeycomb materials for electrified regeneration. Examples of fast adsorption-desorption cycles for VOC removal and CO2 capture will be demonstrated.
