The summer school Creative Industries and Media Management Course is an initiative from CIC.Digital, University of Porto and IMMAA, to stimulate transfer of knowledge and experience between professors, professionals and graduate students from several fields related to Creative and Media Studies. It’s an unique opportunity for students to present and develop their projects in an environment that explores both - academic and industry scopes, celebrating creation and innovation. Its international dimension, with prominent teachers will foster networking and debate, and disclose the most actual research and development across the world. This PhD Summer School was an opportunity for me to broaden my knowledge on developments in media industries, business strategies and policies. In addition, it was an excellent occasion to discuss my research project and approach together with both established and young scholars, and media professionals. During the sessions on projects and theses of the CREIMA course I discussed (1) documentary as a suitable case to analyze whether and how digitization and internationalization are impacting on merit media content production, distribution and policies; (2) the multi-methodical design of my PhD project; and (3) some first research results on the precarious relationship between public broadcasters and the documentary sector.
