Dear Freya, As an internationally renowned expert on the physics of the top quark I would like you invite you to share your knowledge with us by delivering a series of top quark lectures in Hilary Term of 2018 within the graduate curriculum of the DPhil in Particle Physics at Oxford. (The exact number of lectures is to be determined by mutual agreement.) Lectures include formal problem sets that are mandatory for all students. A passing grade in the problem sets of each course is one of the requirements to be allowed to progress from probationary status to DPhil status at the end of the first year. The 2017/18 academic year intake will consist of 18 talented students. It will be a joy to teach and work with them! I do hope you can accept this invitation. Sincerely, Ian Ian Shipsey Henry Moseley Centenary Professor of Experimental Physics Head, Sub-Department of Particle Physics Deputy Head, Department of Physics Professorial Fellow St. Catherine’s College University of Oxford
