Emotion Regulation, Sleep Problems, and Non-suicidal Self-injury in Adjudicated Youth

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a conference

Description

Emotion dysregulation and sleep problems are important risk factors for non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in adolescents. The present study examined the role of maladaptive emotion regulation styles and sleep problems in predicting NSSI after controlling for gender and posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) in a sample of 52 Belgian adjudicated youth in a juvenile residential facility in Flanders. The results supported the positive correlation between emotion dysregulation, sleep problems, and NSSI and the predictive role of emotion dysregulation in NSSI after controlling for gender and PTSS.
