European Conference on Radar in Meteorology and Hydrology

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in conference

Description

ERAD builds a bridge between academia, industry and weather services. It has a long tradition in fostering the interaction between scientists, engineers and agencies responsible of operational radar networks around the world. Experts meet experts. Newcomers have the possibility to meet seniors in the field, to attend training courses, to get an overview following the talks and poster presentations, and to present their first studies to the community. Weather services and research groups that are interested in the latest technological developments can talk to the experts of the manufacturers at their booth, both virtually and in person at the conference centre.

There will be three interactive training courses organized on Sunday (28 August), one on microphysical polarimetric fingerprints, one on nowcasting of precipitation, and one on open-source software for radar data processing. Visit the page dedicated to our shortcourses here

The conference officially starts on Monday morning (29 August) with a welcome note and a session dedicated to international cooperation. The abstracts are subdivided into 19 sessions covering the relevant topics in the field. There are keynotes, lectures, poster and oral presentations. Posters are displayed during the entire conference week; there is no rotation. And, there is a new format of presentations, so-called “triplets”, a 30-minute talk that unifies 3 abstracts on a common topic into 1 presentation. For the first time, the ERAD conference can be attended remotely or in physical presence at Locarno, Switzerland.
