Description

The aim of this campaign managed by Orano Mining was to evaluate the concentration of radio elements (uranium and radium) and other trace elements (such as As, Se, Cd, Pb, and others) in surface waters in the vicinity of former mining sites and their comparison with the natural background concentrations of watersheds in unaffected areas. The DGT technique was applied to evaluate the potential bioavailability of these elements. Three piezometers were also sampled directly at the mining site. In this fieldwork, the sampling points selected in 2024 were followed in order to compare the results in high flow vs. low flow conditions.
