On 5th December 2019, Kenya-KEET FMD team organized and executed a Kenya Veterinary Board Continuous Professional Development (CPD) based Veterinary and Veterinary paraprofessional training on FMD management. This was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - University of Nairobi. 70 participants attended the training (attendance list will be attached separately). The Vet training included FMD case definition, epidemiology and diagnosis, FMD control and prevention, with the Ethiopian-KEET FMD team providing insights in the Ethiopian experience. FMD Biosafety, Biosecurity and management at the farm level were also covered in the training. There was also a session on virus recombination, vaccine mismatch, vaccine stability as affected by proteomics and the risk factors to be overcome if the country is to achieve FMD elimination goals.
