Food e-commerce in Paris: different models for new proximity logistics

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a conference

Description

The supply and demand of food e-commerce has seen growth stimulated by the Covid-19 pandemic, with an 11.3% increase in purchases between 2020 and 2021 (Fevad, 2021). Urban studies identify the impact of e-commerce on the city through the extension of various forms of drives, places where goods can be collected after an online order, on different scales, nationally in France or locally in Paris (APUR, 2022; Seidel, 2021).While the importance of physical urban spaces for the logistical functioning of food e-commerce is not ignored by scientific studies, the relationship between spaces dedicated to logistics and commercial spaces is not always described or established. This research work distinguishes the way in which new forms of food e-commerce integrate new logistical functions into urban commercial spaces.
