Seminar on merchant correspondence as a means of gathering and transmitting political news between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Focusing on the letters of Tuscan merchant-bankers active between London and Bruges, the talk examines the circulation of news on the Wars of the Roses to the Italian courts and the relationship between mercantile networks, political information, and diplomatic practices.
