Description
In this panel we report on the findings from the research project AFFECT. This project examines the counterterrorism regime in Belgium, its strategic assumptions and knowledge claims, its main programs and their effects. The first consortium partner, the Université Catholique de Louvain, will focus on the impact of counterterrorism on the enforcement of the law on foreigners in Belgium. The second partner, the Nationaal Instituut voor Criminalistiek en Criminologie (NICC/INCC) will report the findings from an ethnography of judicial proceedings related to terrorism. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as the third consortium partner, focusses specifically on the role of the local police in a wider regime of counterterrorism practices and will report on the findings from a range of ethnographies in local police forces.
