The Quantum Challenge in Concept Theory and Natural Language Processing

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a conference

Description

The mathematical formalism of quantum theory has been successfully applied during the last decades to model cognitive phenomena (decision processes, human probability judgement, knowledge representation, etc.). Meanwhile, also the possibility of improving information technologies using the quantum framework has been explored (natural language processing, information retrieval, etc.). In this paper, we overview the research in quantum cognition that we have developed in our Brussels group and that is relevant to information technologies, identifying the evidence of the presence of quantum structures in psychological and corpus-text-based experiments.
