Description
The existing urban network theories all focus on trade relations between two hinterlands (hinterland and foreland)separated by ocean space. These two hinterlands communicate and trade together through a harbour/port city, commonly called gateway in urban network theories. This concept, which was invented by Guido Weigend, has been used over and over again, but it does not take into account continental trade. In this paper attention is given how continental trade can be fit into the urban network theory. Therefore new concepts are introduced, namely rearland and land space/periphery.| Period | Apr 2010 |
