Abstract
The data collected in this prospective cohort study ran over a period of one year, including three test occasions with a six-month time interval in between (T0=baseline, T1=6months, T2=12months). A total of 248 participants were recruited in Flanders, of which 98 caregiving grandparents, 64 non-caregiving grandparents and 91 non-grandparents. At each test occasion, anthropometric and body composition measurements were determined. Participants’ levels of physical activity and sedentary behavior was assessed both objectively and subjectively by means of accelerometry and self-report questionnaires. Information about their grandchildren and the provided grandparental care (if applicable) as well as their health-related quality of life was also assessed using self-report questionnaires.
