Christophe De Coster is administrative expert at research group HOST (Historical Research into Urban Transformation Processes). He is responsible for research support, data management, and administration.
He studied history at the University of Antwerp and the Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia, primarily with a focus on medieval and islamic history. His bachelor's thesis dealt with early modern urban noise pollution while his master's thesis concerned the social status of butchers in medieval Antwerp and Leuven. After graduating, he worked as a researcher at the University of Antwerp on the pilot project Time Travelling 2.0. The aim was creating a smartphone application in which historical data of inhabitants and images of the Antwerp neighbourhood Sint-Andries are visualised on historical maps. The result is the Sint-Andries Time Machine, and it can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android).
