Expertise

Dimitri De Bundel is a lecturer to the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy. He graduated as a Pharmacist (summa cum laude, 2004) and obtained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2009). During his PhD he gained expertise in in vivo neurochemistry methods and behavioural analysis. During a postdoctoral research stays in Karolinska Institutet (Sweden, 2009-2011) and Institut Génomique Fonctionelle (France, 2011-2014) he further developed his expertise in techniques for studying the neurobiological basis for cognitive function and mood regulation. He is now a principal investigator at VUB (since 2014) where he is investigating neurotransmitter and neuropeptide systems involved in memory and mood dysfunction. His core expertise lies in behavioural analysis and targeted pharmacological manipulation of brain transmitter systems in neurological and psychiatric disorders.
