Doctoral candidate Emel Kılıç graduated from the Department of Early Childhood and Pre-school Education at Marmara University (in 2008). She then completed her postgraduate education at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, more specifically in the socio-cultural field at the Department of Adult Education (in 2016). She has done her PhD research on migration and integration at the same department (2017-2024) and is completing her postgraduate training in clinical psychology(in 2024). Emel is also a reviewer for several international journals on migration, integration, education and phenomenology. During her early university studies, she worked as an education reporter and writer (Cumhuriyet Daily News, Bianet) producing and presenting education programmes at a local radio station (Yön Radyo). She has also worked as a teacher in many schools in Istanbul and Belgium and has written a postgraduate thesis on the integration of immigrants who receive their higher education in Belgium. Furthermore, Emel has worked as a volunteer in institutions such as VLOR (The Belgian Higher Education Council). In addition to science and research, she is also interested in literature and creative writing, and has published children's books and a collection of poems, as well as working as a freelance pedagogical psychological consultant.
