My research centers around evaluating the impact of potentially gonadotoxic treatments on spermatogonial stem cells and their niche. This includes a thorough analysis of the pubertal development and fertility status in individuals who underwent testicular tissue banking before receiving chemo- and/or radiotherapy during childhood. In addition, I explore the effects of emerging cancer therapies, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors, on the spermatogonial stem cell niche: an area where current knowledge remains limited. Finally, I examine the effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy on the testicular environment of transgender women undergoing sex reassignment surgery, with the aim of evaluating its potential as a model for fertility restoration research.
