Prof. dr. Jachin Van Doninck is associate professor at the faculty of law and criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he teaches civil procedure, private international law and ADR.

Since his appointment at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Professor Van Doninck has conducted large-scale research in the field of civil procedure and ADR, co-founded the Digitalisation and Access to Justice research group (Dikè, https://dike.research.vub.be/), as well as the EUTOPIA-funded connected research community incubator on sustainable European private international law (SEPIL). He is faculty coordinator of the Civil and Procedural Law Master programme and, since the 2023-2024 academic year, faculty ombudsperson.

Jachin Van Doninck obtained his Master of laws at Ghent University (2001, magna cum laude) and studied European and German law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Munich University Summer Training in German and European Law (MUST), with DAAD-scholarship, magna cum laude).

On 11 March 2020, he was awarded a Doctor of laws (Joint PhD) by Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, with a PhD thesis on the fate of unlawful evidence.

On 1 October 2020, he was appointed as lecturer in tenure track at the faculty of law and criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

On 1 September 2025, he was tenured as associate professor of the faculty of law and criminology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
