Jonas Lefevere is Assistant Professor of Political Communication at the Brussels School of Governance.

His research focuses on the domain of political communication, with a particular interest in the impact of media on the public, the impact of election campaigns on voting behavior, and the role of issues in voting behavior and partypolitical communication strategies. He has published extensively on these topics in a variety of journals, including Public Opinion Quarterly, Communication Research, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, Party Politics, and so on (Google Scholar Profile)

Currently, he is involved as a principal investigator in the Excellence of Science project RepResent (Representation and Democratic Resentment), together with colleagues from the VUB, ULB, UCL, UAntwerp and K.U. Leuven. With Stefaan Walgrave, he is also the lead investigator for De Stemming, a yearly survey commissioned by the Flemish public broadcaster (VRT) and De Standaard.


Together with Katjana Gattermann (University of Amsterdam), he founded the ECPR Standing Group on Political Communication, and he is currently the vice chair of the Standing Group's steering committee. He chaired the Political Communication section at the 2018 ECPR General Conference in Hamburg.
