Pia Struyf is a scientific researcher at the Crime & Society Research Group (CRiS) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. She holds a Master’s degree in Criminology (VUB, 2017) and is mainly interested in forensic sciences, police investigations, policing, space and security. For her Master’s thesis, Pia evaluated the communication about forensic sciences between police and experts in a murder investigation. In 2018, Pia conducted a systematic review on the effectiveness of DNA databases for police, society and criminologists at the University of Ghent. Since September 2018, she conducts research on the impact of street lighting on crime and fear of crime at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
