Wannes Croonenberghs (he/him) is a researcher at the Free University of Brussels in the Brussels Innovation for Learning & Diversity (BILD) research group. He holds two master's degrees in adult education sciences and political science. During his studies, his focus was on youth emancipation. In his research, he explored what civic role children should play in society. For master's thesis in agogical sciences, he wrote about the motivations of young people in boards of directors. In the master of political science, he followed the predoctoral track for which he wrote a master's thesis on the political representation of young people.
Continuing on his interest on education, Wannes is working on a project of the Flemish government on workplace learning. In this co-creative research, he is investigating how Flemish companies can use informal learning to empower their employees. In collaboration with the Department of Work and Social Economy, Wannes is working on the development of an instrument that will serve to stimulate informal learning in the workplace.
In addition, Wannes is building an expertise in sustainability education. He is most interested how the Inner Development Goals can be a catalyst for a sustainable transition.
Wannes volunteers in the youth sector to valorize his academic expertise. He is a member of the general assembly in JINT vzw (2021-...) and is a member of the general assembly in Diggie vzw (2015-...).
