Personal profile

Expertise

I am a neurologist: a physician trained in the diagnosis and treatment of nervous system disease. In this field I am particularly interested in movement disorders (such as Parkinson's or Huntington's Disease), functional or 'psychogenic' symptoms and neuropsychiatry, palliative care and Evidence Based Medicine (EBM). I also do research on depression and dementia.

A populariser of (medical) science through various publications and lectures, I am a frequently invited expert in the lay media.

Lastly, I try to be a humanist in both senses of that word.
