Ambient Intelligence and Data ¨Protection

Project Details

This PhD-project addresses the question to what extend privacy and personal data can be protected, from a legal point of view, in relation with 'Ambient Intelligence' technology. This term refers to a network society in which people and objects (computers) are intensively connected with each other and communicate with each other in an autonomous and automatic way, with the eventual help of software agents. This supposes a fast growing stream and procession of our personal data in these networks, which can possibly endanger our rights to privacy. The PhD. deals, from an interdisciplinary viewpoint, with the influence of Ambient Intelligence on privacy and personal data and analyses the legal protection of privacy and personal data in these networks.
