Description
The development of a smart seal with the aim of optimizing the durability of seals. The system enables condition monitoring during assembly as well as during operation. This goal is achieved by integrating fiber optic sensors into the seals to allow direct quantification of surface tension on the seal, based on the measurement of stretch in the optic fiber.
