Baekeland mandate: Novel Actuation System for Active Gas Pulsation Control in the Discharge Piping of Positive Displacement Machinery

Project Details

Description

This project aims to investigate the possibility of actively controlling gas pulsations in the exhaust system of screw blowers (APC, Active Pulsation Concept) while improving noise reduction, compactness and efficiency. A similar noise reduction as active silencers, with an increase of 1-3% efficiency and a significant reduction in size versus currently used silencers, both for a low-power piston compressor with low-frequency gas pulsation excitations(10-100 Hz) and for a high-power screw blower with high-frequency gas pulsation coefficients(100-1,000 Hz).
