Broadband in cities. Analysis of international best practice in relation to Wifi and Wimax broadbandzones in a city environment

This study was carried out for the Centre for Informatics of the City Region of Brussels. It comprises a best practice study of Wireless City Networks. This best practice study focuses on the analysis of the goals, the business models, the Public Private Partnership models and their relation to services offered of wireless city networks. The analysis provides recommendations in the area of 1) targeted user groups, 2) the identification of service packets, 3) the strenghtening of competition in infrastructure provisioning, 4) the optimal PPP formula, 5) stimulation of innovation in services, 6) the support of innovation in the regeion.
