Coalition types, policies of the government and elections: a political and economic approach.

Project Details

This research project investigates how different types of coalitions influence government policy and elections. Moreover, the project analyses how the type of coalition influences the policies of the government, how this link between coalition type and government policy affects the electoral results of the coalition partners and if there are other channels, other than policies of the government, through wich the coalition type influences the elections.
This doctoral research will be both theoretical and empirical; the empirical part of the project will focus on the analysis of the central governments and electoral results of the OECD-countries (1965-2004). Furthermoren the project has an interdisciplinary character and will take both a political and economic approach.
