HISSTAT is the name of an interuniversity project that aims to generate and develop a central database of historic statistics. This database will bring together statistics from Belgian municipalities since the French period.

The project is designed to protect, utilise and make accessible a multitude of historic censuses in Flanders and Belgium for diverse applications and for the public at large. The central database has a data system that enables the processing of digital statistics and the creation of historic maps.
