Comparisson of the efficacy of sonic versus ultrasonic scaling

Many studies have been appeared in the recent literature which demonstrate the efficacy of basic periodontal therapeutic procedures for the resolution of clinical signs of periodontal disease. A treatment regimen consisting of oral hygiene instruction and supra- and subgingival debridement can effectively improve periodontal conditions. During the past decade several types of air turbine scalers have been introduced as alternatives to hand instruments and ultrasonic devisces in periodontal therapy. the aim of the present study is to compare the effect of four different treatment modalities on the periodontal conditons scaling alone, altrasonic scaling in combination with manual scaling.
