One cannot use conventional techniques for the measurement of liquid phase equilibria and multicomponent interactions in reaction conditions. Chromatography is one of the rare techniques to allow such measurements in reaction conditions and in the presence of hydrogen at high pressure. Therefore, a new HPLC/MS setup will be constructed. Anyhow, even isotope tracer chromatography experiments are difficult to interpret and yield only indirect information on equilibrium. Hence this technique should be complemented by another technique called desorption equilibrium measurement. Only a commercial setiup of around 25MF is available for such measurements, as it contains features not neede here. We propose to construct our own equipment which will also be useful in the measurement of co-adsorption of hydrocarbons and water.
