Development of a Belnet starter kit for starting Internet users.

Members of the Belgian scientific institutes can connect to the Internet through Belnet. Not all institutes have sufficient means to guide starting Internet users on their first steps. Provision to this need will be given with the help of a kit containing the necessary elements to put beginners in fair way. A first version is prepared now. This version is operational, but not static: new evolutions on the Internet must be documented in later, successive versions of the kit. The kit contains the necessary documents (electronically and on paper) and software. A virtual part is also developed. Reference to this is found in the kit. The virtual part consists of WWW pages on servers in Belgium. It is investigated how the further development forall components must take place, how the kit can be maintained (by regular updates), and how the transfer to Belnet, and partly to other institutes, can take place.
