eldery woman: existent or non existent? Project concerning the creation of social-agogic impulses to improve the participation in the community development and the emancipation movements.

Project Details

Description

Research at the VUB proves that this elderly fraction of the population is
subject of discrimination, because of their age (ageism) as well as their
sex (sexism). Their status of social outlaws shows in less particpation
in the community development and the emancipation movements. The proposed
research project is very useful to enlarge our knowledge of this group in
the society. Following the aims of the IV World Conference (Peking) the
Flemish policy is changing to more active participation of the elderly
women.
The development of social-agogic impulses is desirable. With this project
our goal would be to develop even more social-agogic impulses to improve
the participation of this enlarging group of our population. This would
increase the quality of meso-level provisions and stimulate their
individual well-being.
