Empirical validation of the theoretical model of Theodore Millon of personality disorders.

Th. Millon developed his theory on personality disorders on basis of the existing literature and his personal clinical experience. However most aspects of the theory have never been clinically or empirically validated. The aim of this study is to validate: (1) the different aspects of the theory, (2) the questionnaire (MCMI-III) derived from the theory, (3) the clinical subtypes derived from the theory. On basis of the results of this research, it should be possible to adjust the theory where necessary and to improve the differential diagnosis of the different personality disorders.
