Ensemble averaging and generalized entanglement in the AdS/CFT correspondence

This projects adresses two important open questions regarding quantum gravity and quantum
information in the AdS/CFT correspondence. On the one hand, recent advancements in
understanding AdS2/CFT1 dualities in terms of ensemble averaging raise the question whether this
paradigm generalizes to higher dimensions and what consequences this may have for the
interpretation of the gravitational path integral. The first part of this project aims to compute
ensemble averages of a class of two-dimensional conformal field theories over their moduli spaces
and construct the holographically dual formulation in terms of saddle points of the gravitational path
integral. On the other hand, the study of entanglement entropy in the AdS/CFT correspondence has
provided the background to the idea that spacetime is an effect emergent from entanglement in AdS/
CFT. An important open question in this regard is the role of generalized entanglement measures
(also known as entwinement) that take into account entanglement between different fields. Here, the
aim is to find a proof for previously proposed entwinement dualities in AdS3/CFT2, compute quantum
corrections thereof and generalize to higher dimensions
