To stand prepared for future pandemics, it is important to be aware which pathogens are around in zoonotic reservoirs and how likely they are to emerge. Therefore, my aim is to develop novel methods to identify new viral pathogens, in such zoonotic reservoirs. I will investigate the development of new surrogate modelling, simulation, and multi-criteria reinforcement learning techniques, to approach this challenging target.
