Description

The aim of this project is to experimentally verify different theoretical models for the propagation of an ultrasonic beam in a linear isotropic visco-elastic material. The presented project is based on the complementary expertise of the two research laboratories: 1) The department ELEC of the VUB, group of underwater acoustics (Prof. L. Van Biesen): design of the experiments and the application of signal processing techniques, and the model validation; 2) The interdisciplinary research centre of the KULAK (Prof. dr. O. Leroy): theoretical modelling of the beam propagation in visco-elastic media.
