Flemish photonics strategy: rrf opportunities in European cooperation and collaboration with Netherlands and Ireland

Photonics is the digital key technology that harnesses the exceptional properties of light for technological and industrial innovation. Within the framework of the
plan "Flemish Resilience", the VUB photonics team B-PHOT team is asking for support to fulfil its coordinating role in PhotonHub Europe, the pan-European Digital Innovation Hub for Photonics, by anchoring the PhotonHubEurope front office in Flanders, specifically in the in Flanders, more specifically in the Photonics Innovation Innovation Centre in Gooik (support request 837 kEuro). B-PHOT also wishes to expand its photonics pilot line infrastructure to be able to to seamlessly connect to the complementary photonics pilot lines of complementary pilot lines of PhotonDelta (The Netherlands) and Tyndall (Ireland) to work together.
Tyndall (Ireland) to jointly establish a world-leading photonics research and innovation platform in Europe (support request 3.183 MEuro). Finally, B-PHOT wants to set up an open Photonics Training Centre for the training, retraining and re-skilling of the researchers, retraining of respectively students from technical schools, colleges and technical schools, university colleges and universities; of technical and college teachers; and of personnel from companies in order to provide Flanders and Europe with the photonics workforce of the future (request for support 1 MEuro).
