Human, inhuman - stagings of violence in contemporary German-language literature and their relation to the concept of the 'human'

Project Details

Description

Starting points of the project This project departs from the results of the first postdoctoral scholarship, while at the same time innovating and broadening that project. The past two and a half years I have been studying the dialectical relationship between subjectivity and aesthetic experiment in contemporary Austrian prose, making use of posthumanist subject philosophy and theory. The authors considered were mainly Josef Winkler and Marie-Thérèse Kerschbaumer. The project concentrated on the aesthetic appearances of the fragmented and deformed subject in those texts, as well as on the ethical consequences of those appearances.
