ICON Project PET2VALUE - UPCYCLING OF POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET) THROUGH MICRO-REINFORCEMENT FOR USE IN HIGH VALUE APPLICATIONS

Project Details

Description

The objective of this project is to upcycle the available PET plastic waste stream from Agfa by using micro-reinforcing structures and eventually adapting the molecular design of the polyester itself. Through these reinforcements/modifications, a hybrid composite material is created which can be used for high-performance and high added value applications: strings for racket sports (Luxilon) and 3D-printed objects (Tenco DDM bvba and Belgian Cycling Factory).
