Improving energy efficiency in public buildings: Optimization of energetic techniques on two lab floors (VUB, building G, campus Etterbeek).

Project Details

Description

In building G on the VUB campus in Etterbeek, both education and research activities of the faculty of sciences and bio-engineering take place. The building dates from 1975 and is energy-wise outdated. The building will be renovated layer by layer and as first phase, the two upper floors (G8 and G9) with largest consumption of energy will be tackled (13% of the surface uses 54% of the total energy of the building). These two layers will be stripped almost completely. For this EFRO/FEDER application, we emphasize three topics that have an impact on energy efficiency and C02 emissions: - Optimization of ventilation and fume cupboards, - Relighting: labs and offices will be equipped with LED lighting, - Reduction of energy consumption: installation of solar panels on building F&G.
