Intermediality in literature and the performing arts.

Project Details

Description

This project theorizes in the first instance the multimedial interactions within as well as between texts and performances, at the thematic/discursive, narrative, dramaturgic and theatrical levels, with respect to both their productive and receptive sides. Because these interactions revolve especially around texts, images and bodies, literary critical methods and semiotics have to be complemented by a mixed phenomenology of the image and the body, in an attempt more fully to comprehend the multimedial object of research. Apart from the necessity of a more appropriate and partly renewed methodology, the nature and degree of participation and the critical social intervention within media-determined art form the preliminary issues of the investigation.
