The applied research of the research group Industrial Microbiology and Food Biotechnology (IMDO) targets the development of (new) functional starter cultures of food-grade microorganisms of importance for the dairy, meat, cereal, vegetable, cocoa, and coffee industry. It encompasses strategic partnerships with (inter)national food companies and commercialization of market-ready cultures in collaboration with producers of starter cultures.
