Project Details
Description
The use of extraneous genetic material in the context of reproductive medicine has led to a number of fundamental legal question. A large number of these legal questions has hitherto remained unanswered or has no satisfactory solution within the scope of current Belgian law. The legal investigation will formulate a suitable answer on the basis of fundamental research and analysis of comparative law. The legal investigation opts to divide the legal questions according to the various parties involved in the rpocreation process. It will deal with the legal questions relating to the donors, the acceptors, the children, the fertility doctors and the community, in that order. The formulation of solutions will also be based on the findings of the psychological and ethical research. Furthermore, the legal investigation will also take account of the medical information which is passed on from the fertility centre of the University in Jette.
