Local analysis of inorganic and organic components at surface of solid materials by means of static secondary ion mass spectrometry.

    Project Details

    Description

The surface-engineering in almost all applications of aluminum is essential. Treatments of the surface influence the morphology, structure and composition of the substrate. Static SIMS will be implemented in the measurement of the hydration degree of the aluminum oxide surface, the detection of functional groups after chemical treatment and the characterisation of organic residues at the surface. Correlation with physicochemical properties, such as the zeta potential, will be made.
