Long-term photometry of changeable stars.

Project Details

Since more than a decade we observed a number of pulsating B stars of the type beta Cephei in the southern open clusters NGC3293 and NGC6231 by using instruments of the European Southern Observatory in Chile. As such, we obtained a unique collection of time series magnitude and colour indices which alowed us to determine the principalfrequenties in the light and colour variations. An important question is whether or not the frequencies of these stars are stable in time: the answer to this question can only be obtained when a data base extending over more than 10 years isavailable. These data also lead to determination of internal structure of stars through asteroseismology.
