Description
The mechanismst causing glutomosclerosis are the subject of intensive research . Reactive Oxygenintermediaries (ROI) probably play an important part role . A number of experimental models of chronic kidneydificiency show an enlarged production of ROI . Changes in the production of ROI in tissues can be judged indirectly by a measurement of the activities and the gene-expression of the anti-oxydance enzymes (AOE). Literature provides until now little information concerning one experiment in wich both AOE activities and the mRNA levels are given . Earlier we already proved in models of chronic kidneydificiency that changes can occur in the activities and in the mRNA levels of some AOE (remnant kidney, adriamycine model, angiotensis model). Administration of vitamine E or ACE inbibitor, enalapril, increases the activity of superoxides dismutasis and glutathione peroxidase in the cortex of remnant kidney rats . The goals of the project are : 1. Continued research on the relatioship development scleriosis in the kidneycortex (glomerulosclerosis and interstitional fibrosis) / changes in the activities and gene-expression of AOE in the cortex and glomerules in models of chronic rat kidneydificiency . 2. Continued study on the influence of medication with profitable influence on the kindneyfunction and glumorulosclerosis on the AOE status . 3. Look into whether a mouse-kidneydificience model can replace the rat-model .
