Motor development among children aged 4-6, related to the environmental support in school and family

Project Details

Description

With sedentary behavior being very common in our society, it is not clear which correlates may be considered critical to enhance a stimulating environment for young children to develop their fundamental movement skills adequately. This study aims to create and validate an instrument to analyze movement culture in preschools and families. In addition, critical correlates of preschool children's fundamental movement skills will be studied. The targeted population has three sub populations: a)persons responsible for early childhood education, b) parent of 4-to 6-year old preschool children and c) preschool children between 4 and 6 years of age. Children's FMS will be assessed with the MOT 4-6 (Zimmer & Volkamer, 1987).School and home environmental data will be collected using self administered questionnaires.
