In this research project, several steps of the Multi Actor Multi Criteria Analysis (MAMCA) developed by Macharis (2000, 2004), will be given a scientifically sound theoretical basis. The MAMCA is an extension from the original Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA). It is a decision support system which allows the decision maker to evaluate different alternative solutions for a problem on several criteria (which can be quantitative or qualitative). The MAMCA has the extra advantage of explicitly incorporating all relevant stakeholders within the decision process. Instead of criteria or effects, the direct objectives of the stakeholders are used in the evaluation. MAMCA has proved to be a very interesting tool in different decision contexts. The interest for the methodology is clear and the methodology has already been applied in different regional; national and European projects (Macharis, 2009). In order to further strengthen this innovative methodology, I would like to devote more time on it so as to deepen several steps of the methodology.
